Bespoke showreel production with proper camera, lighting, direction, and editing. Not self-tape quality — material you are actually proud to submit.
Most showreels are built from existing work — scenes pulled from student films, self-tapes recorded against a neutral background, or clips from productions that showed the performance but not the range. The result is a reel that documents what someone has already done rather than demonstrating what they can do in the roles they are actually pursuing.
Casting directors and agents know what a self-tape looks like when it has been dressed up as a showreel. They know when the material was written to be generic rather than crafted to the actor. And they know when the production quality suggests that no one with professional experience was involved in the decision-making.
The MTF showreel service starts from the other direction: what roles are you pursuing, what do those roles require, and what do we need to create in order to demonstrate it convincingly?
"A showreel is not a record of your past work. It is an argument for the work you should be given next."
Bespoke scenes written specifically for you, built around the roles you are targeting and the range you need to demonstrate.
Proper production equipment — not a phone on a tripod or a camera without lighting control. Cinematography that serves the performance.
You will be directed specifically for screen — not just recorded. Adjustments are made in real time based on what we are seeing in the frame.
A scene partner is provided where the material requires one, so you are not performing to a reader or into a void.
Post-production with colour grade, sound mix, and pacing decisions made collaboratively — with the participant involved, so you understand why each choice was made.
Delivered in the formats required for submission to agents, casting directors, and online platforms. Guidance on where and how to use the material included.
Every showreel engagement follows the same arc — from the initial conversation about what you need to the delivery of finished, submission-ready material.
We start with a conversation about what you are working towards — the roles you want, what your current materials are missing, and what the reel needs to demonstrate in order to open doors. This is also where we look honestly at whether existing material can be incorporated or whether everything needs to be created from scratch.
We develop the scenes specifically for you, then share them for review and comment before any production takes place. You should feel confident in the material before you perform it — which means there is a revision round built into the process as standard.
Location, costume, scene partner, and technical setup are confirmed in advance. You receive preparation notes covering what we will be working on and how to approach the material before the shoot day.
A structured shoot day with time built in for warmup, multiple takes, and direction-led adjustments. The goal is the best possible performance on camera, not the fastest possible completion of the day. Participants typically shoot between two and four scenes depending on the package.
The edit is completed and shared as a rough cut for participant review before the final grade and mix. Notes are incorporated at this stage. The finished reel is delivered within the agreed timeframe — typically ten to fourteen days after the shoot.
Along with the finished reel, we provide written guidance on how to use it — which submission contexts it is suited to, how to present it, and how to sequence it alongside other existing material if relevant.
The MTF showreel service is available as a standalone commission for any creative who needs submission-ready material — you do not need to have completed another MTF programme first. However, participants who have been through the Film as Lens or Multi-Hyphenate Lab programmes, or who are engaged in one-to-one mentoring, typically approach the shoot day with a clearer sense of how to perform for camera and a more developed set of materials to build on.
If you are coming to showreel production as a first step — without prior screen experience — we will tell you clearly in the initial brief conversation whether a preparation session would be worth scheduling before the shoot. We would rather the day produce the best possible material than simply complete the process.
The Showreel Sprint programme (see Programmes) is the structured two-day version of this service, which combines script development, shoot, and edit within a defined cohort programme. The standalone service here is for individuals working to their own schedule and with their own brief.
